A shipwreck with six dead so far has occurred in the sea off the coast of Lesvos, near the PPC factory in Epano Skala, Mytilene. It is suggested that there was a shipwreck as so far, the boat has not been located, nor was there any distress signal to authorities.
The wreck was noticed at first light on Tuesday morning by passers-by, who saw the corpses washed ashore by the sea.
According to lesvosnews, the bodies belong to three men and three women of African origin.
None of the six people was wearing a life vest, local media stonisi reported.
Strong Coast Guard forces were operating on land and sea on Tuesday, to find survivors or more casualties.
According to state broadcaster ERT, authorities did not receive any emergency call via <112>, something usual when a boat carrying migrants get in distress.
In this sense, nobody knows where and how the boat sank and how many people were onboard.
