The number of daily infections and hospitalization has decreased in the last couple of days but the number of deaths remain high. Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday 3,868 new coronavirus cases and 63 deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated covid-patients has decreased further to 307.
Epidemiology professor at the Medical School of Athens, Dora Psaltopoulou told state broadcaster ERT that he high rate of deaths affects mostly people over 50, vulnerable groups and unvaccinated or partly vaccinated over 70.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 3,242,037 infections (daily change: +0.1%).

The number of possible new re-infections in the last 24 hours is 85.
63 deaths brought the total of pandemic victims to 28,652. Of these, 95.5% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

307 patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67.1 years, 65.2% are men and 93.5% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.
Of the total in ventilation, 54.4% are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 46.6% are fully vaccinated.
4,564 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
170 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -21.66%). The average daily admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 246.
The median age of new infections is 36 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 79 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
