Decision on lifting mandatory mask indoors to be taken on June 1, says Greece

Greece’s Health Minister Thanos Plevris said on Wednesday that the decision for the lifting of mandatory use of mask indoors will be taken on June 1, 2022.

The decision will depend on the course of the pandemic in the country, Minister Plevris added in an interview with Skai FM.

Greece lifted the showing of Covid-Pass to access indoor spaces of venues and retail stores as well on international and domestic flights on May 1.

Last month the government was determined to lift also the use of mask indoors on June 1 but the country’s health experts were reluctant to prematurely allow it as they first wait to see the impact of the Easter Holidays (April 24) and the long weekend May 1..

Greece has seen a significant decrease of daily infections, covid-related deaths, intubations and hospitalizations in the last few weeks.
Indicative:
May 3: 4,176 coronavirus cases, 39 deaths, 240 intubations
May 2: 2,665 -30 – 235
May 1: 4,701 – 22 – 238
April 30: 6,497 – 35 – 239

Note that authorities have not updated the Covid Map since April 12, 2022.
