Greece halts daily Coronavirus bulletin amid summer wave (POLL)

Greece’s National Health Care organization EODY announced on Wednesday that it halts its daily bulletin coronavirus cases, while the number of infections and other related data will be announced collectively once a week only, on Fridays.

The decision raises question-marks (and eyebows) as currently the daily infections with Covid-19 range between 25,000 and 30,000.

In its relevant announcement to accredited editors, EODY said that “from Friday, 8. July 2022, EODY will publish a report with the available epidemiological data of the COVID-19 infections on a weekly basis, that is, every Friday.

The report will concern the data recorded in HDIKA until 9:00 in the morning of the previous day.

The weekly report will include all disease data from the beginning of the pandemic (number of cases, intubated and deaths), as well as the wastewater surveillance and genomic surveillance data.

In case of significant changes in the epidemiology of the disease there will be relevant updates from EODY,” the statement stressed.

“It remains unknown why the EODY chooses in the midst of a new wave of the pandemic and with 25,000 to 30,000 cases daily, to limit the relevant information,” noted medical news website healthreport.gr

PS “Do people need to know? No, people do not need to know!” said my cat. She claimed further that “when we don’t talk about coronavirus, there is no coronavirus.”

POLL: What do you think? Do you agree with EODY decision? What’s its motive?
