The last of four signatures by leading US Congressmen in foreign relations committees at the Senate and House of Representatives opened the way on Thursday towards the proposed sale of advanced F-35 fighter jets to Greece.
According to procedure, the US State Department approached the relevant foreign relations committees to sound them out before formally presenting a proposal to Congress for the sale of the F-35s.
The four required signatures included those of Senate Foreign Relations Committee chair Robert (Bob) Menendez (Democrat), vice-chair James Risch (Republican), House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs chair Michael McCaul (R), and vice-chair Gregory Meeks (D). Risch gave his approval on Thursday.
