Due to the high temperatures expected in the coming days [Official Weather Warning Here], the possibility of interrupting the operating hours of specific archaeological sites has been considered, at specific times and according to the forecast of Greece’s National Meteorological Service.
The Panhellenic Union of Antiquities Custodians (PEYFA) has called on the ministry to issue the necessary instructions for dealing with the impending heatwave, both for workers and visitors, as soon as possible.
The Acropolis and other archaeological sites were closed to public at specific hours due to the heatwave in summer 2021.
PS But as we are in Greece, last minute measures are decided …last minute with no respect to visitors, groups or cruise-ships tourists, because we don’t want to lose revenues, do we?
