First it was the head found in a garbage bag on Tuesday. According to media information it belonged to a man in the 30’s of Asian origin.

Upon discovery of the gruesome find by a worker, the unit based in Akrotiri shut down operations and called the police.
A search then began in other waste containers in an effort to locate other body parts.
Two legs and entrails were found in another bag.
A worker had said that he had comε in contract with another bag with a strong odor, however, he did not open it. There is suspicion that the hands and other body parts were probably in that bag.
Also some papers were found in the bags.
The truck that brought the garbage to the DEDISA unit had reportedly come from Rethymno.
The head seems to have been thrown in a blue recycling bin.
Police investigates the issue searching also for recently missing persons on Crete.
A forensic examiner said his first impressions are the man’s death occurred within the last 10 days.
State broadcaster ERT reported Wednesday noon that the body parts were removed with “surgical precision with a sharp tool.”
DEDISA general manager, Kostas Paterakis, told ZARPA RADIO 89.6 that “regarding the findings there were documents referring to Rethymno”
He pointed out, the unit workers are in a state of shock.
