Greece’s Foreign Ministry has activated the Crisis Management Unit to facilitate the evacuation of foreign citizens from the island of Rhodes due to the ongoing forest fires. Furthermore, it will open a HELP DESK at the international airport of Rhodes on Sunday afternoon.
In a series of tweets, the foreign Ministry published several phone numbers where foreign citizens on Rhodes can call.

Furthermore, and in cooperation with embassies, the Ministry will set up a HELP DESK for foreign citizens at the international airport of Rhodes.
It is expected to start its operation at 5:00 p.m on Sunday, July 23, 2023.

Many tourists were evacuated on Saturday in a hurry and in panic and some of them directly from the beach and some of them do not even have their travel documents by them.
According to latest information, 19,000 tourists and local have been evacuated, among them around 1,200 people who have been evacuated after midnight on Saturday.

Forest fires on Rhodes continue also on Sunday with three fire fronts currently active in Apollonas, Kiotari and Gadoura, according to the fire department.
266 firefighters are operating there with 15 water-dropping aircraft from Greece, Croatia, Turkey.
