A very high risk of fires (risk category 4) has been forecast for Saturday, August 12, in several Greek regions, according to the Fire Danger Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection ministry.
The regions with a Very High Risk of Fires danger are:
- Attica
- Argolida
- areas in Evia, Viotia, Corinth and Evros
- Skyros
- Chios and Psara
- Lesvos
- Limnos
- Samothrace
Regions marked “YELLOW” indicate that they are at “High risk of Fires” (category 3).
According to meteorologists, strong northern winds – meltemia- are forecast until August 15 at least.
It is recalled that the fire season in Greece ends at the end of October and starting a fire outdoors or do agricultural or other works that cause sparks are absolutely forbidden.
