Α 45-year-old man who was brought in early Thursday afternoon on suspicion of arson in the Avlona area at the foothills of Mount Parnitha was arrested.
According to information, the former lawyer is a resident of Avlona. He is allegedly facing psychological problems.
Evidence and testimonies have emerged against him that link him to the barrage of fires that occurred this morning in the area of Avlona.

Three detainees set free
A 44-year-old man, who was detained on suspicion o arson also in Avlona was released after no evidence was found against him.
The two 31-year-old men who were spotted in Menidi suburb of western Athens moving towards Parnitha were also released. They were detained during a police check and they were found to be in possession of many lighters and some suspicious container.

The man seems to have been recorded by security cameras moving near the places where the fires broke out on Wednesday.
According to information, the authorities are looking for another person suspected o arson in Halkida. i
According to the spokesman of the >Fire Service, Giannis Artopioos, and the data available so far, until yesterday, Wednesday, Aug 23, 2023, a total of 140 people have been arrested for arson in agricultural land and forest areas.
117 people set fires by negligence and 23 by intention.
It is worth noting that no refugee or migrant has been mentioned among those arrested.
