According to reports, before the arson attempt the neo-Nazis terrorized citizens in the Metro thus beating first of all migrants.
During the attack, a woman was injured after being hit by wooden sticks and was transferred to a hospital.
The neo-Nazis acted undisturbed despite the presence of strong police forces in the area who were rather chasing anti-fascists.
When riot police finally decided to intervene, they fired teargas inside the Metro station creating a suffocating atmosphere with passengers running to escape the worst.
Police was on high alert due to gatherings for the 10th anniversary the murder of two members of the neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn in Neo Iraklio suburb of north-western Athens. At the same time, left-wing groups and anarchists had organized an anti-fascist gathering in the same area.

On Thursday morning Police said it had launched an inquiry into a possible incident of police brutality.
A video posted on social media showed riot police officers repeatedly beating a man they had detained and pinned on the ground, state broadcaster ERt reported.
Greek police is exposed in several ways for the beating, for allowing rioters inside the Metro and for firing tear gas inside the metro.
