One man lost his life and four people reported missing, while 25 migrants have been rescued after a boat carrying migrants capsized off the island of Samos early Sunday morning.

Citing coast guard sources, local media reported that authorities were alerted of the boat capsize in the sea area of Agios Isidoros northwest of Karlovasi, at 6 o’ clock in the morning.
The boat, which started from the opposite Turkish coast, was spotted by a Coast Guard vessel and the 25 rescued migrants were immediately transported to the port of Malagari.
During the Search Αnd Rescue (SAR) operation, the coast guard retrieved the body of an unconscious man. The body was transported by the Health Center ambulance to the Hospital for an autopsy.
Searches continue by vessels of the Coast Guard of Frontex and the vessel “Albatross” of the Greek Rescue Team to locate the four missing people who were on the boat, according to the statements of the rescued.
The rescued have been transported to the local migrants’ Identification Center.
It is noted that north winds of 3-4 Beaufort are blowing in the area.
