The number of foreign hikers missing on Greek islands in the month on June rose to 9 after two French tourists went missing on the island of Sikonos

The 74-year-old old Dutch tourist missing on the island of Samos was found dead on Saturday morning. His body was in a gorge around 800 meters away from Limnionas.

Although officially the search operation had concluded on Thursday evening, rescuers kept up the efforts and they used a drone.

Authorities are searching for two French tourists who reportedly went missing on the island of Sikinos on Thursday.

The women, aged 73 and 64, were staying at different hotels, but it is believed they are connected.

Αccording to ANT1 TV, one of the women called the owner of the hotel she was staying staying that she was not feeling well.

Their disappearance was reported on Friday.

A search operation with firefighters, volunteers, police officers from neighboring Ios as well as local authorities including the mayor are participating in the operation that focuses on the paths of the small island.

Sikinos, a relatively secluded island in the Cyclades situated between Ios and Folegandros, has a population of 386.

The two French women rise the number of hikers missing on Greek islands to 9 alone in the month of June.
