Protesting farmers from Magnesia in central Greece will stage a symbolic blockade of the Old Volos-Larissa National Road at Rizomylos on Monday, from 5 p.m.
The farmers are rallying for support from local authorities as they continue their protest against rising production costs, low product prices, and the lack of state support.
For days, the farmers have parked their tractors in the area, demanding immediate action to address their concerns.
Their key demands include subsidies for fuel, electricity, and agricultural supplies, guaranteed minimum prices for their products, support for those affected by natural disasters, and the abolition of electricity price adjustments. They also call for more favorable terms for agricultural loans.
Over the weekend the farmers decided to escalate their protests, despite assurances by the Agricultural Ministry that “its doors are always open for dialogue.”
Also during previous protests, the Ministry had expressed the same promises, however, the farmers and breeders in central Greece, who felt victims to massive floods did not see the promises materialize in due time.
