Holding banners, Greek flags, holy icons, the relics of Saint Charalambos and the scull of Saint Prosdokimos, clergy and locals of the village Emporeio in south Santorini held a procession through the village streets seeking divide protection from the earthquakes.

The procession took place on the occasion of St. Chalalambos day celebrated on February 10 and who is also the patron saint of Emporeio village.

It is the second religious prayer on the island since the intense seismic activity started on January 26.
On Sunday, February 2, a religious prayer was held in Oia when high-ranking clergy and residents gathered and with special prayers asked for the cessation of seismic vibrations.

Over 11,700 earthquakes have occurred in Santorini and neighboring islands between January 26 and February 7, 2025, an experts’ study of the phenomenon has shown. The seismic activity continued over and weekend and today, Monday, with 4.9 R in early afternoon, and a 5.2 on Sunday evening.
