Mitsotakis tells Zelensky “Greece will continue to support Ukraine”

After days of silence, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis assured on Tuesday President Volodymyr Zelensky that “Greece will support Ukraine.”

In a telephone conversation, the Greek PM informed the Ukrainian president about Greece’s positions at Thursday’s Special European Council meeting, as well as the European Union’s commitment for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, sources of the PM’s office told media.

They two leaders discussed the latest developments ahead of the Special European Council in Brussels on upcoming Thursday.

Additionally, Mitsotakis underlined that this demands a significant enhancement of EU and Ukrainian defense capabilities, as well as US support.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis was one of the few EU leaders who did not expressed his support to Zelensky after the eclat at the White House last week. Of course, there was a political reason to not do so, as the Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis was in Washington and met with his counterpart Marco Rubio right after the unprecedented “diplomatic” incident.

Mitsotakis remained unexplainable silent also on the days they followed, however, the Greek PM has been politically under immense pressure due to the huge protests over the Tempi train disaster and a turbulent week at the Parliament for the same reason.

  1. I am wondering why any country continues to support this cocaine abusing creature who also has a phenomenal portfolio of properties dotted around the globe (not speculation, the “Panama Papers” revealed so much).
