Two metro stations in downtown Athens will shut down by order of the Greek Police on Friday, March 7, due to Tempi protest rallies.
Metro stations “Syntagmna” and “Panepistimio” will close as of 10 o’ clock in the morning and will open later again by order of Police.
The trains will pass through but will not stop and no passengers will be allowed to embark or disembark.
The first rally organized by pupils and students is scheduled at 12 o’ clock noon at the entrance of the Athens University on Panepistimiou Avenue.
The second rally is organized by labor centers, federations and unions and is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. or even earlier outside the Parliament at Syntagma Square.
Shutting down metro stations during protest rallies is a practice adopted by Police during the big and often violent protest rallies during the economic crisis and the bailout agreements as protesters sought refuge in the stations and chasing police officers fired tear gas in the enclosed areas.
It is interesting that while the Police did not shut down metro stations in central Athens during the huge Tempi rally on February 28, but it will do it tomorrow.

Also in the evening protest yesterday Wednesday, riots broke out outside the Parliament with police firing tear gas and sound flares until very late.
Και να σας πω;
