The traffic restrictions in the inner zone of central Athens known as Traffic Ring or “Daktylios” will be suspended for cars as of Friday, July 24, 2026. However, the restrictions the measures remain in effect for trucks until the end of the year.
The measure is traditionally suspended mid-July to mid-October, when majority of Athenians are on vacation and the traffic is not so heavy
Restrictions have been imposed several years ago with the aim to reduce air pollution in the city center and vehicles are theoretically allowed to enter the Daktylios zone only on alternate days, based on whether their number plate ends on an odd or even number and the date of the month.

Daktylios restrictions usually go into effect in early autumn, usually either end of September or beginning/mid October.
