Greece Weather: Sahara Dust, mud-rains and strong winds

Strong southern winds prevailing in the east Mediterranean regions transport Sahara Dust to Greece.

Furthermore, the phenomenon is forecast to be accompanied by mud-rains.

The phenomenon that will affect mainly the West and the South is forecast to last until upcoming Thursday, March 28, 2025.

According to latest forecast data by the National Observatory of Athens, dust concentrations in the atmosphere will be increased mainly in the Ionian Sea and in the mainland, with the exception of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Subsequently, dust concentrations are expected to increase in the rest of the country.

Note: Health experts warn vulnerable groups of the society to take precaution measures if they have to be outdoors.

Winds will be blowing from southerly directions 4 to 6 Beaufort, in the seas 7B and locally 8 B. There is possibility of temporarily local in the Ionian Sea up to 9 Beaufort.

The temperature will increase slightly and will reach 18 degrees Celsius in northern mainland, 19-22 ° C in the remaining areas and in places, 22-23° C in western mainland and the Dodecanese and 23-24° C in northern Crete.
