Majority of Greeks have negative opinion of Donald Trump

The majority of Greek citizens have a negative opinion of US President Donald Trump. Apart from Trump’s personality and ideology it is mostly his trade wars, that is the tariffs citizens are afraid of and the economic instability he triggers worldwide.

According to a large public opinion poll conducted by Metron Analysis on behalf of Mega TV:

67% of Greeks have a negative opinion of the American president, while only 24% have a positive opinion.

Looking more closely at the political identity of the respondents, we see that only the voters of nationalist Greek Solution – Elliniki Lysi – have a clearly positive opinion of Donald Trump.

At the same time, the majority of citizens believe that the imposition of tariffs by the US will have a large or very large impact on the Greek economy.

47% believe that it will have a fairly large impact, while 16% believe it will have a very large impact. 30% believe that they will not have that large an impact, while only 4% believe that there will be no impact at all.

The voters of socialist PASOK (at 74%) are the ones who believe that there will be major impacts on our country. On the contrary, those of the Greek Solution believe that there will be few impact or none.

Historical high in negative opinions about the EU

Citizens were also asked to answer similar questions about the European Union.

The majority has a negative opinion about it, with the percentage reaching 55%, while positive opinions are at 39%.

55% is the highest negative percentage that the EU has ever had since November 2018 until today.

At the same time, only the voters of New Democracy and PASOK have a positive opinion about the European Union, while the majority of the rest political parties have a negative opinion.

Of great interest are the answers given regarding the future of the EU. The majority of citizens want to proceed with its economic and political unification, while 26% want it to remain as it is, while only 20% want the EU to be dissolved.

The majority of voters of ruling conservative New Democracy, PASOK and left-wing SYRIZA want the economic and political unification, while the lowest percentage of this specific answer comes from voters of Greek Solution.
