An unprecedented incident took place on the Metro line to the Athens International Airport, when a man punched a tourist short before 5 o’ clock on Wednesday afternoon.
According to state broadcaster ERT, a man of Arab origin unprovoked attacked a tourist from Germany and started to punch him.
Police were called to the scene and officers arrested the attacker who is believed to be suffering of psychological problems.

Initial information was falsely reporting of “clash between foreigners” posting a video of arrest of one of them.
The perpetrator was taken to Chalandri Police Station for causing simple bodily harm.
The victim did not request to be taken to a hospital, nor did he want to file a complaint, and as he would miss his flight back home and left the scene.
A representative of the metro managing company STASY was expected at the Police Department to file a lawsuit for obstructing transportation against the perpetrator.
According to latest information, the perpetrator is a 19-year-old asylum seeker from Iraq who came to Greece as unaccompanied minor. He has spent some time in psychiatric clinic due to alcohol and drugs use an he appears to have difficulties in comply with life in refugee facilities.
