Eleven members of the 27-strong Greek delegation participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla have announced that they are beginning a hunger strike to protest what they call their “illegal detention” by Israeli authorities.
In a statement released on Thursday, the group described their decision as a collective act of resistance against “the crime committed against the Palestinian people and the continued violation of every principle of international law.”
“Our presence here, our arrest and now our hunger strike are a continuation of the same stance: that Palestine is not alone, and that solidarity cannot be imprisoned,” the statement read.
The group demanded the immediate release of all flotilla participants detained after the interception of 32 boats by IDF on international waters on Wednesday night.
They rejected charges reportedly linked to Israel’s anti-terrorism law as “false” and “fabricated.” They added that if any harm comes to the detainees, “the responsibility lies solely with the Israeli state.”
KTG understand that it’s only the Greeks on hunger strike.

It is no doubt safer to refuse food / ‘go on hunger strike’…….speaking frankly. I would do the same.
Sorry, KTG, but you are wrong!
Greta Thunberg is swedish, not norwegian. And as I understand it, the swedish people are quite fond of her as she has done much good in protesting peacefully aganist the environmental misuse. Remember her speach in the UN Headquarters, “How dare you….” Quite strong!!
