A court in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, has sentenced a 46-year-old man to life imprisonment plus an additional 12 years for the murder of his estranged partner, whom he fatally stabbed after accusing her of having an affair with her own son.
The femicide took place in December 2024 at the woman’s home in Angelochori, Thessaloniki.
According to court documents, the man stabbed his 60-year-old partner to death in front of her three adult children before turning on her 30-year-old son, who managed to escape despite sustaining serious injuries.
During his testimony, the son told the court that his mother had thrown the defendant out several days before the attack. “The reason was his suspicions about the two of us,” he said. “That day he came home in the morning, made and drank coffee. At some point he said to her, ‘You are having an affair with your son,’ and stabbed her, shouting, ‘Tell me if it’s true or not.’”
