Minor student stabs classmate in Athens school

A shocking incident among minors in a school in central Athens: a girl stabbed with a knife and injured a 14-year-old classmate who was taken to hospital.

A knife attack took place on Monday at a gymnasium in Kypseli district of Athens.

For the 16-year-old perpetrator it was the first day in this specific school, state broadcaster ERT reported adding that she was removed from her previous school due to violent incidents and that she had missed two school years.

Police was informed and rushed to the scene, while the girl was initially taken to the teachers’ office to receive first aid. Teachers called an ambulance and the girl was taken to a children’s hospital in Athens.

The victim has been injured in the hand and the abdomen and her life in not at risk.

Police have arrested the girl who allegedly stabbed her classmate.

According to ERT, teachers were present during the incident and are expected to give statements at the local police station to clarify what exactly happened when the girls started fighting.

Teachers and other students reportedly fell over the perpetrator to remove her “weapon.”

Violence among school children has reached a peak in the country, with media reporting almost daily of fights and bullying. But going to school with a knife? This seems to be a “first” in Greece.

One in three students has said to have fallen victim of bullying at school, ERT reported.

  1. So many females are victim of femicide, it makes a sense to carry a knife or pepper spray! Just typical victim blaming!
