An elderly man was seen and filmed to pull his dog by the leash while he was driving his car on the streets of Thessaloniki, northern Greece. He claimed he was “dog walking.”
It was the shocked journalist of Star TV covering the farmers protests near Malgara who spotted the man with the peculiar way of “dog walking”.
She confronted the driver with the animal abuse warning him that such an action was forbidden ans that she would report him to police.
The 67-year-old man claimed that he was walking his dog and drove away.

The woman filmed the animal abuse including the license plates of the vehicle and turned to nearest police station to report the driver.
Police officers identified and located the man thus arresting him.
Early on Monday morning, January 5, the man was taken to the courts of Thessaloniki, where he requested and received a postponement for his testimony..
He is being held in custody.
The so-called “administrative” fine such cases of animal abuse reaches the amount of 30,000 euros.
“He’s neither the first nor the last one, believe me. We have seen it before and we have seen it before and we have seen it before many times. What is on everyone’s mind, I really don’t know. It is terrifying to see people abusing defenseless creatures”, Martha Poultidou, Head of the Panhellenic Group against Animal Abuse commented.
