Greek police arrested a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday for the death of a 17-year-old. The two teenagers had an argument with the younger boy to have struck the victim with a fatal blow that later led to his death.
The incident took place on Monday night in the city of Serres, northern Greece.
The victim’s family looked for him throughout the night and on Tuesday morning with his sister to found him dead in the house basement. Earlier on Tuesday, the family reported the boy as missing to local police station.
The victim had gone for a walk with a friend the previous night and he met with the alleged perpetrator who was underway also with a friend. The two started to argue for the sake of a girl to whom both boys had interest, media reported.
At some point the 16-year-old hit the victim in the head and fled the scene.
It looks as if the victim managed to return to his home, he probably felt unwell and went to the basement to recover.
According to media, the victim was dead for several hours when his sister found hi at 9 o’ clock in the morning.
The perpetrator has reportedly told police that he hit the victim because he was texting his girlfriend.
According to reports, he has been a source of considerable concern to the authorities. So far, he has been arrested twice, once for beating a minor outside a local high school sending him to the hospital and once for drug possession.
Some media give his age as 18 years old.
Police are reportedly searching for the assailant’s friend who was present during the incident
