Greece Weather Warning: Heavy rainfalls, storms, gale-force winds

Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning of heavy rainfalls, thunderstorms, gale-force southern winds locally blowing with 9 Beaufort and significant transport of Sahara dust.

The weather deterioration will initially affect the western and northern parts of the country.

The bad weather front will be of short duration, staring on Saturday late evening, February 14, in the West and the North and then move eastward. The phenomena are forecast to ease as of Sunday afternoon, February 15, 2026.

EMY Weather Warning

1. Heavy rains and storms are expected from tonight and until Sunday afternoon in areas of the western and northern country.

a. in the Corfu – Paxos region from tonight’s evening Saturday 14-02-2026 until Sunday morning 15-02-2026
b. in Epirus from tonight’s night until midday on Sunday 15-02-2026
c. in eastern Macedonia and Thrace tomorrow Sunday (15-02-2026) from pre-midday until late afternoon.

2. Very strong to gale-force southerly winds will blow tonight in the Ionian Sea (7 to 8 Beaufort) and tomorrow Sunday in the Aegean Sea (8 and in its eastern parts 9 Beaufort).

3. The meteorological conditions favor significant transport of African dust to eastern Greece and mainly to its southern and central regions (Peloponnese, Crete, eastern Sterea, including Attica, Cyclades and Evia)
