The Greek Easter holiday opening hours for retail stores will go into effect on Thursday, April 2, the Athens Trade Association (ESA) said on Friday.
According to the announcement, stores will be open on an expanded schedule in order to accommodate consumers during the Greek Orthodox Easter, while a provision is made for stores being open on Sunday, April 5, 2026, on a voluntary basis.
The week before Easter, stores will be open as follows:
Thursday, April 2: 09:00 – 21:00
Friday, April 3: 09:00 – 21:00
Saturday, April 4: 09:00 – 16:00
Sunday, April 5: 11:00 – 16:00
On Holy Week, they will open according to following schedule:
Holy Monday, April 06: 09:00 – 21:00
Holy Tuesday, April 7: 09:00 – 21:00
Holy Wednesday, April 8: 09:00 – 21:00
Holy Thursday, April 9: 09:00 – 21:00
Holy Friday, April 10: 13:00 – 19:00
Holy Saturday, April 11: 09:00 – 15:00
On Easter Sunday (April 12) and Easter Monday (April 13), all stores will remain closed.
The Athens Trade Association called on consumers to schedule their shopping in time, noting that the holiday season is a key opportunity of boosting the market.
Notes:
1. Supermarkets opening hours may slightly differ on April 5, 10 and 11.
2. Outside Athens stores may operate with a different schedule, so you better check locally.
