His 35-year-old now ex wife and mother of his four children was found not guilty.
The 46-year-old former police officer who was serving at the Greek Parliament was unanimously found guilty on Friday afternoon, April 17, for the brutal sexual abuse of his four children and his wife.
The Mixed Jury Court of Athens ruled that the former police officer committed the shocking sexual abuse he was accused of. That is, that he repeatedly raped his children and his ex-wife, that he committed abuse of minors, sexual acts between relatives and pornography, among other offenses.
The seven judges, three regular and four jurors, unanimously sentenced the ex officer was sentenced to four times life imprisonment and an additional 80 years and three months in prison, for the serious crimes he was accused of.
He was also fined with 13,500 euros.
The defendant was found innocent by the judges, only for the misdemeanor of possession of a weapon.
Despite the heavy sentence, he is expected to be released from prion in 25 years, media reported.
The judicial upheaval, however, came for his children’s mother and ex-wife, also a former police officer, who by a majority of 5-2 was found not guilty of the serious indictment that was attributed to her, for the rape of her children, the abuse of minors and sexual acts with her children.
According to the judges’ reasoning, she “had an inability to perceive the injustice, due to the presence of a significant dilemma”.
Upon hearing the acquittal decision, the mother thanked the justice system. “Thank you very much and I apologize again publicly,” she said, while her relatives burst into tears.
According to media, she will seek custody of her children who have been living in social institutions since November 2024, when the horrible child abuse was discovered. (KTG reported HERE.)
