(Upd) Horses starving in Hell Farm on Crete

UPDATES: there are some unofficial updates on the horses. Apparently 7 of them, those in worst condition,  are in a safe environment now and their health conditions is being monitoring by rescue vets. A horse farm was converted into a hell farm for 24 horses on Hersonissos area on the Greek island of Crete.  The poor animals were almost abandoned by their owner and were left to die of starvation. Seven horses were in the brink of death by starvation, while eight others didn’t look much better. Animal welfare societies have even reported that five horses had died recently.

The gruesome case was revealed when advocate union members’ Dog-Man Action “and members of Wildlife Hospital of Aegina filed a complaint at the prosecutor of  Hersonissos seeking to remove the horses from the “care” of  the farm owner in order to protect them.

According to the complaints, the cruel “entrepreneur” had left the unfortunate animals at the mercy of God. In recent months five horses had died by starvation, seven other horses were in the final phase of their lives and eight were in a very bad condition. All the horses were dirty and unkempt.

Many animal lovers quickened to find a solution and replace the abused animals. According to latest reports, an owner of a horse farm expressed the will to take some of the horses, bu the final decision will be up to the prosecutor.

  1. Does anyone know the exact location of this horse farm so that we can try to help the animals? I live locally and dont know where they are!
