ECB: Stark goes, Asmussen comes?

So, he is gone! German Juergen Stark, Executive Board member at the European Central Bank. He submitted his resignation from his post officially due to personal reasons. Unofficially due to ECB’s controversial bond-buying programme. Precisely, “two sources told Reuters, that the resignation was related to the bond-buying that has rescued Italy and Spain from crisis over the past month.” (RTE News.ie).

Some mean people go so far and claim that he resigned because hardly a German newspaper would quote his statements. On the contrary the Greek press would publish every dot and comma and semicolon he would speak out. Should we offer him shelter? A job maybe as top tax collector?

Juergen Stark was a hawk. He had even proposed that Greece should sell assets worth of 300 billion euro. Sad to see him go?…

His resignation was submitted late Friday afternoon; the Athens Stock Exchange had no time to react properly.

According to Reuters, German Deputy Finance Minister Joerg Asmussen will replace Juergen Stark on the executive board of the European Central Bank, a source familiar with the plan said on Friday.
