It looks like the real winter broke out. Wind, rain and in some places even snow. Cold and in the north parts of Greece freezing. Hardly time to go for a winter swim. Really!
Not the ocean, just the modest Argosaronic Gulf
Athens, Dec 8/2012, 3.30 pm, 14° C.
I couldn’t resist the call of the wild though. I went to the sea side for a 7 km brisk walking. Hardly any people round. All along the coast from Palaio Faliro to Pier 1 in Floisvos Marina. A few drops of rain here and there.
Even the winter swimmers at Floisvos had stayed at home. Just two men -packed in warm clothes -and the dog. A stray that has found water, food and company there.
And a brave surfer who followed his own call of the wild…
That’s not weather for swimming. Really!

The topic brings up the issue of energy. I wonder if Greece has used nuclear energy/nuclear power plant(s)? Nuclear power plants requires tons of money to operate and keep maintenance in good shape; otherwise, it is just a big nuclear bomb waiting to set off like Fukusima one.
no cuclear energy here. we use our very own energy :p
“no nuclear energy here.”
>> That’s good. Imagine a nuclear power plant located somewhere in Greece and suddenly blown up, then Greece might not have much land left to live!!! and Beautiful Greece might become Nightmared Greece.
“we use our very own energy”
>> It’s sad, isn’t it? and ‘our very own energy’ comes from food which is the fundamental issue, the life-blood of society. No food means no life! Government must face this reality and do something about it. About 6 people were just frozen to death in Serbia.
no, I cannot imagine… enough horror scenarios here, we don’t need another one.
The colours of the water are beautiful. So are the mountains in the background.
it was indeed amazing, and the camera captured the scenery quite good 🙂
