Steadily high is the unemployment rate in Greece with at least 1,295,535 people without work. According to latest data released by the Greek Statistic Authority for the fourth quarter of 2012,
-Unemployment rate is at 26 percent.
-Unemployment among youth 15-24 years old is at 57.8 percent.
The number of employed persons decreased by 1.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, and by 6.4 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2011, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the number of unemployed persons increased by 5.2 percent compared with the previous quarter and by 26.3 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2011.
The data refer to official unemployment and thus only for employees.
Greek Employment Agency (OAED) plans to offer jobs to 400,000 Greek youth in municipalities and with a contract of 5 months. At a monthly salary of 490 euro.
That’s even less than the official minimum wage, currently at 510 euro gross….
