November in Greece: strikes, protest rallies, work stoppages schedule

The fronts are clear: workers oppose austerity, creditors enforce it, government implements it. The consequence is also clear: strikes, protest rallies, work stoppages. Trouble.

Protesters’ mobilization started today, Monday, with teachers, students and parents taking to the streets to demonstrate about the situation in the Education. Secondary education teachers were on work stoppage from 11 am to 2 pm.

During the students protest earlier today, a group of people wearing masks and hoods started to throw stones at a riot police unit outside the Greek Parliament at Syntagma Square. They hurled also a molotof cocktail and the police fired a stun grenade.

Monday and Tuesday, November 2nd and 3rd 2015, the Greek Seamen Federation is on strike. Ferries and boats are stuck in the ports.

Tuesday, November 3rd, workers in the Athens Metro, urban train ISAP and Tram launch a work stoppage from 9 pm until the end of the shift. this means practically that these 3 public transport means will operate again next morning.

Wednesday, November 4th, municipality workers union will ‘occupy’ municipalities and land fills from 10 am to 1 pm.

Thursday, November 12th, public and private sector unions ADEDY and GSEE launch a 24-hour strike across the country. They protest, the social security system reforms, the prior actions and the labor market reforms. The strike is accompanied by a protest rally in downtown Athens and other major cities.

Sunday, November 22nd, public sector union ADEDY launches a protest rally in downtown Athens.
