One of the most emblematic personalities of the Greek theater, actress Anna Synodinou passed away at the age of 88 after a long disease. Anna Synodinou who served also as member of the Greek Parliament was born in the town of Loutraki on November 21st 1927.

An actress with a rare metal voice, a charismatic personality, a woman with strong will and stubbornness, Anna Synodinou honored the art like very few of the kind. The great tragedian is known, to have served the art with ethos and consistency and had only success and honors.
She has mainly excelled in ancient drama and has won two times the Greek Kotopouli Theatre award, but also several wards and honors abroad.
She has a brief but notable career in cinema, and a sparse presence in Greek television where she has been awarded for its role in the series Matomena Homata.

During the Colonel’s dictatorship (1967-1974) she stopped her performances in the theater out of protest, she got involved in resistance. The colonels sized her theater at Lycabettus, and her passport, she had to cancel tours abroad. Until 1971, she worked as typist for the import-export company of her husband.
She was an elected member of the Greek Parliament (1974-1981) under the ticket of New Democracy, she served as Deputy Minister responsible for Social Services, also as city counselor.
Despite her many roles in Ancient tragedies, she had refused to play the Medea, saying she “could never play a woman who kills her own children.”
