SYRIZA MP reckons, he burned US flags in anti-American protests, attacks US foreign policy

While the Greek coalition government of left-wing SYRIZA and nationalist Independent Greeks were polishing their shoes and airing their suits to welcome US President Barack Obama in Athens, an MP from SYRIZA reminded that the “Americans are responsible for fatal interventions in the Middle East in particular and the globe in general.

Gerasimos Balaouras said that the slogan “Americans are the people’s killers” cannot be written off and he reckoned how he burned American flags during demonstrations in Athens.

“I participated in demonstrations against the US and burned American flags outside the US embassy,” Balaouras said adding “the USA has played a decisive role in destabilizing the wider Mediterranean region. These things cannot be hidden. ”

With regards to military operations in Syria, he stressed that “will not proceed to a direction that will facilitate the military operations of the US armed forces in Syria. Greece has no place in combat operations in the Middle East. ”

Then, however, he rushed to declare that Barack Obama has always supported the Greek positions. I hope, he said, this will not change with the Trump’s Presidency and stressed that “the whole world from the EU to Ecuador was against Trump who in the end was unfortunately elected.”

  1. Bloody hypocrite! Gerasime you claim you used to burn US flags. Look at you now, you vote for memoranda and agree to sell out the entire country for 99 years (last May). You voted yes to a text of 7000 pages available to you for 2-3 days, right? You must be a genius.
Burning is OK, but when it comes to money (MP tax-free salary plus perks) everything goes. Let us hope that you and your buddies will some day meet with the fate you deserve.

    • The relevant expression is “Talk is cheap”. Most politicians are happy to give away words, and less inclined actually to solve problems or do anything useful.
