ND Mitsotakis: We will lower taxes even without lenders’ approval

Leader of Greece’s major opposition New Democracy (ND) party, Kyriakos Mitsotakis vowed to lower the tax burden on entrepreneurs even without consulting with the country’s lenders and proceed with unilateral actions..

Speaking to Alpha TV on Tuesday evening, Mitsotakis stressing he was determined to move forward with his plan, even if this meant clashing with the country’s creditors and making unilateral decisions.

“If the government presents a convincing plan of reforms, then I am certain that the institutions will accept to cut -be it marginally- the primary surplus targets”, Mr. Mitsotakis claimed.

He argued that entrepreneurship must be supported in Greece, while labeling the new tax contributions freelance professionals were burdened with as “madness.”

He vowed to to repeal the government’s “illegal procedures” to permanently appoint seasonal contracted employees in the public sector. He added that he would allow hiring in public sectors where staff was necessary like in the health sector.

He underlined that his government would reform the organizational structure of the government. “We will create a tighter cabinet and trust the more experienced and skilled public servants, instead of hiring revocable employees”, he stressed.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis also announced that he will “clean” the “terrorist-infested” district of Exarchia in Athens. “A new generation of terrorists is being bred in Exarchia. Heavy weapons are being circulated and police are not taking action because there is no political will”, he said, pledging to “clean” the area up.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis tweeted:

It is not possible that 80% of revenues of a freelancer ends in the state. We will decrease taxes even if without the lender’s approval.

PS Mitsotakis seems to agree with the IMF that also wants less taxes for self-employed and freelancers. I hope, they will not relocate the ‘missing’ tax revenues on the shoulders of the usual victims: the employees, the pensioners, the low incomers and the unemployed.

I wonder what Mitsotakis’ German ideological partner, Dr Schaeuble, thinks about the upcoming revolt of Greece’s conservative front…

  1. Be in no doubt. Kyriakos is just as much a servant of the 4th Reich as his buddy Alex. Wolfie just orchestrates the pawns.

  2. The lower tax burden will be for the 4th Reich entrepreneurs & their Greek performing monkeys & no one else.
