US President Donald Trump and his advisers consider making changes in the White House amid the flurry of reports involving Trump’s campaign associates and Russia. One such change could involve making Chief of Staff Reince Priebus the ambassador to Greece, according to US media reports.
The Washington Post is reporting that President Donald Trump is considering naming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus ambassador to Greece as part of a major shakeup of his senior staff.
“Some Trump associates said there have even been conversations about dispatching Priebus to serve as ambassador to Greece — his mother is of Greek descent — as a face-saving way to remove him from the White House,” the report states.
The report said that a White House spokeswoman “strongly denied that possibility.”
Still, multiple reports indicate Trump and his advisers are preparing to shakeup the senior staff at the White House in an effort to better push back against the cascade of news about ties between Trump’s campaign associates and Russia.
Several aides and Trump allies told the Washington Post that White House aides are trying to build momentum for the president’s policy agenda and retool how the White House communicates with the public.
It has long been speculated that Priebus could be on his way out of the White House, and one longtime friend of Trump’s has even publicly called for the chief of staff to be fired.
Greeks and Greek-Americans had cheered when 44-year-old Reince Priebus was named the powerful chief of staff in the Trump administration. Many hoped that Priebus would and could persuade President Donald Trump to lend a helping hand to in-debted Greece.
So far, they have been waiting in vain…
