Greece’s National Meteo warns of rain- and thunderstorms, hail, very strong winds

Greece’s National Meteorological Service has issued a late weather warning drawing attention to thunderstorms, rain- and hail-falls and strong winds. The weather warning is effective until Thursday night, May 24th 2018.

Strong rainfalls and thunderstorms are forecast especially in the area of the Ionian Sea and the Central and North mainland. The phenomena most likely will be accompanied by hail-falls and very strong winds.

Forecast and regions affected

Wed, May 23

Ionian Sea, Epirus, West and Central Macedonia, possibly West Sterea, North Peloponnese and North Thessaly.

Thu, May 24

Until noon Ionian Sea – mainly the North – and Euboea.

Until the evening the rest of the mainland except Thrace.


Enjoy sunshine on Friday, because another rain- and thunder-weather front will affect Greece’s South and East on Saturday.

Not much of a fair weather on Sunday either, where Crete will be target of rain and thunderstorm.

Cloudy weather also on Monday which is a holiday in Greece.

but by Monday there will be just 3 days left and then the fine Greek summer can officially begin.
