Greece has sent a clear message to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. There will be no agreement on Macedonia name issue, “without erga omnes – for all purposes – and constitutional changes,” government spokesman, Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, said on Friday noon. He added “there is no agreement at the moment,” and nothing has been agreed until everything is agreed.”
While the foreign ministers of the two countries have concluded their negotiation works, it is up to the prime ministers now to seal the deal – or not.
According to Greek media,Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, is expected to call his FYROM counterpart, Zoran Zaef, but the call has not taken place so far.
Zaef said on Wednesday that any new name proposed for his country would be put to a public referendum that will most probably take place in early autumn.
“We agree on the foundations and principles of the accord,” Zaev told journalists.
He said more details would be disclosed after a phone call with his Greek counterpart.
On Thursday, FYROM’s president from the nationalist front said he does not agree with the “erga omnes” provision, and that it was a “personal agreement between Zaef and Tsipras.
However, he cannot prohibit the agreement, Greece’s state broadcaster ERT TV said on Friday.
In the last few days, Greek media suggested two names the two sides have allegedly agreed upon: “Severna Makedonija – North Macedonia – and “Nova Macedonija – New Macedonia.

I’m going to say something and probably going to be the first one. In the last 10000 years who remember all the names of the nations. At the future 10000 years from now do you think people they will call Macedonia or any other name? Nations will change, names will change. But people they will remember Alexander the Great and so many others. I’m asking FYROM if they like so much this name Macedonia to join Greece under one country. This way Greece will become larger as country and FYROM it will be part of Macedonia. I’m looking always in to the future and believe some day will be one government for all the humanity. Even Jesus was dreaming something like that 2000 + years ago.
