Two elementary school pupils were injured when the ceiling roof fan detached and fell on the children in the class.
The class in one of the rooms of the 5th Elementary School of Thessaloniki had just started on Thursday morning, when the teacher turned the fan on.
Within minutes the fan detached from the ceiling, fell on two pupils and from there to the floor where the blades reportedly kept rotating for a while.
Panic broke out in the class, the teacher informed the school principal and ambulances rushed to the school.

A girl was injured on the neck and was transferred to a clinic where she received several stitches, local media report.
The second pupil, a boy, has suffered bruises.
The incident triggered the parents’ anger who started to question the safety in the school.
They claim that there have been no serious maintenance works for a long time.

Technical teams arrived for check, the school has reportedly submitted a request to the Municipality of Thessaloniki for the removal of all ceiling fans.
