Greek seamen union PNO decided to extend their two-day strike for another 48 hours after talks with the Maritime minister proved fruitless. Ferries and ships will remain docked on Saturday and Sunday, February 2nd and 3rd 2013.
Seamen oppose the new maritime multi-bill considering that it would further boost unemployment among seamen while it would lead into collapse their social security funds into collapse. Additionally they demand the signature of new collective labour bargain and the ministry’s intervention to shipping companies so that seamen will be paid outstanding wages.
