Upd: Greece taxi drivers decided to strike indefinitely until the Minister of Transportation will have a meeting with them and discuss their demands. A very good choise, indeed, amid the high tourism season! Excellent for the taxi drivers who think they have to take us, locals and tourists, as hostage to their dispute. Exquisite for the Minister who decided to change the agreement although he knew there would be reaction. Thumbs up, guys 🙁
Taxi drivers are adamant to continue their strike until the Minister of Transport will bow to their demands. Taxi drivers oppose the decision of the new Transportation Minister to violate the agreement they had reach with his predecessor. On Tuesday morning taxi drivers decided to extend their 48-hour strike until Friday, July 22nd, 2011. However after the public outcry on Monday , they say, they do not intend to block access to Athens airport Eleftherios Venizelos and the port of Piraeus.
On Monday, the first day of their strike, thousands of taxi drivers parked their cars on the streets near the airport and the harbor with the effect that hundreds of tourists had to drag their luggage in the heat, others could not visit sight seeing sites and causing a horrible traffic collapse.
Taxi drivers’ mobilizations continue across the country. The motorists have blocked the airports of Heraklion (Crete), Thessaloniki and Araxos (Peloponnese) causing problems to tourists arriving per charter flights. Their colleagues have also blocked ports like Patras and Katakolon, causing up to one or two hours disembark delays for tourists arriving with cruise liners.
Taxi drivers in Central Greece have raised the toll barriers at Tempi.
The taxi drivers strike and blockades take place in the highest tourist season of Greece with thousands of foreign tourists arriving daily. Holidays in Greece can be so exciting, right?
Beside that cars are terrorists there is no right to use a cab. Get on your bike!

Now, it was only 2000 people, i’d be curious to see what they would do if was 100,000 like Athens.
but, to be fair, even in the states, we have angry people…
