The Greek thriller continues inexorably with coalition government partner LAOS saying its deputies will not vote in favor of the austerity measures package on Sunday and the cabinet meeting scheduled for today to be postponed for a later time.
Giorgos Karatzaferis from far-right LAOS told reporters at a press conference, that he will not vote in favor of the additional measures and the loan agreement but he will not withdraw his ministers from the government. “I support PM Papademos, it is up to him to decide what to do with my ministers” he said adding that he “tolerate the humiliation Greece even if I am hungry.” He strongly criticized the time pressure by Greece’s lenders and the Eurogroup.
The country cannot live outside the EU, but it can live “off the German boot” Karatzaferis stressed and underlined that the decision not to vote in favor has been taken by an extraordinary meeting LAOS parliamentary group. He held the press conference after he visited the President Karolos Papoulias at 12.30 noon time.
Most probably due to Karatzaferis’ “revolt”, the cabinet meeting originally set for 12 noon, later postponed for 3 pm is due to take place at 6 pm, Greek media report.
Also among members of socialist PASOK things do not look rosy either. On Friday morning, a deputy from Arta resigned but the party keeps his seat at the Parliament. At noon, one PASOK-MP (Apostolaki) said, she will not vote in favor of the measures.
Will we have a Papademos government at the end of the day?
