Athens: Five Men Infected with HIV After Contact With S*x Workers

Five men who had “unsafe” intercourse with HIV-positive street prostitutes were infected with the disease, Greek caretaker health minister Andreas Loverdos revealed on Wednesday. “Five out of one hundred men tested on AIDS at the premises of Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (KEEPNO) were founded positive, ” the minister said, adding that “in private hospitals and laboratories the tests for HIV had tenfold.”

At least 6,000 men had called KEELPNO after police in cooperation with health units published the pictures of HIV-positive prostitutes two weeks ago. 85% to 90% of the men who had intercourse without protection were Greeks. And they had paid up to 20 euro more to health risk.

From 303 tested prostitutes, 29 were found positive to AIDS virus. One of them was working at a brothel, the rest were working on the streets on downtown Athens. the majority of them were drugs addicted.
