Do you need a savvy keynote speaker to enlighten your event guests? A fluently English speaking expert to talk about Europe, the Greek crisis, or democracy deficits in our modern world? An experienced politician, a visioneer? Here you got one: George Papandreou, prime minister of Greece from 2009 to 2011. Former PM of Greece, who took the country to IMF and felt he was misunderstood by his own people. The PM who was toppled by his own party deputies as they were proven unable to understand the vision of “one of Top 100 Global Thinkers”.
George Papandreou is looking for a freelance job to improve the family finances. With a child studying abroad and a wife who is not working, it is obvious that the compensation he receives as elected Member of the Parliament – hardly 5,500 euro per month – is not enough for the sports-savvy former Prime Minister.
Therefore he sent his CV to Harry Walker Agency, a company renting speakers around the world. His picture and biography is now included in the pantheon of the agency’s former global decision-makers like Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Kofi Annan, Dick Cheney, Henry Kissinger.
In Papandreou’s featuring page, we read:
“As Prime Minister of Greece from October 2009 to November 2011, George Papandreou has been at the forefront of the global financial crisis. Named as one of Foreign Policy magazine’s “Top 100 Global Thinkers” in 2010 for “making the best of Greece’s worst year”, he speaks with authority on the state of the Eurozone today and the future of the European Union. In these tumultuous times, few are better placed than Prime Minister Papandreou not only to provide insights into the fiscal crisis, but also to look forward – to where we are going.”
Among his speech topics are listed:
- Europe’s Future: How a United Europe Can Play a Leading Role in the 21st Century
- The European Experiment Between Disaster and Success: Why (and How) We Must Redesign Europe
- Confronting the Democratic Deficit: Citizen-Centric Policies in the Age of Austerity
With regards to Greece related topics, Papandreou could speak at your event on
- Greece: In the Eye of the Storm – International Crisis and Why it is a Global Imperative for Greece to be a Success Story
“Prime Minister Papandreou presents an in-depth look into the causes behind the Greek crisis, and explains why failing to find a solution will have dire economic and geopolitical implications for Europe, and for the world. Presenting the competitive sectors in the Greek economy and revealing undiscovered investment opportunities, Papandreou explains how, by addressing the corrosive uncertainty about Greece’s future, Europe can catalyze an overnight investment boom in the country while restoring confidence in the Euro.”
Unfortunately the Harry Walker Agency does not include the price for which George Papandreou would unfold his notes and explain to your guests why Greece is still struggling to cope with the economic crisis and is brandmarked as a bottomless pit.
PS Wondering whether I should also submit my application to HWA and speak about the issues Mr Papandreou cannot or does not want to.
