The director of Financial Crimes Units (SDOE) for Western Greece was arrested by Greek police for bribery. The arrest took place after a local businessman filed a complaint that the tax controller was asking him 15,000 euro to lower a tax penalty.
Two more tax inspectors were arrested as they appeared at the appointment for handing out the money. Too bad, it was policemen, instead of the businessman…
The three are to face charges for bribery and blackmail.
Meanwhile, the three IKA employees who embezzled 16 million euro by setting up a gang with fake pensions, allowances and benefits, keep receiving their salaries – cut by 50% – even though in prison since last March. Why? Because the state mechanisms move in the speed of a turtle.
PS if it’s not too funny, it’s really sad that nothing changes in this country, isn’t it?
