Greek police bans public gatherings in Athens during German FinMin’s visit, July 18/2013

Greek police issued a statement on Wednesday announcing the ban of public gatherings in downtown Athens due to the visit of German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble. Public gatherings and marches will be banned from 9 a.m. in the morning until 8 p.m. in the evening ‘due to security measures,’ police noted.

The security measures will enclose a large area in downtown Athens, where also private cars will be banned. For more street/area details in Greek click here.

But much better through the mapsengine here 🙂

No, I suppose tourists’ groups in downtown Athens will not be considered as ‘public gatherings’….

PS I am not sure that Greeks would protest Schaeuble for coming to Athens with empty luggage.

Since the 19th century it has become a well-established tradition: German rulers frown at Greek people demonstrating against them.
