measuring 4.6 R occurred at 5:49 p.m. local time. The epicentre was in Amfiklia, 24 km south-west of Atalanti and 32 km south-east of Larisa in Fthiotida area. The earthquake depth was 10 km. Short time after, at 6:01 pm a stronger tremor of 5.1R had almost at the same depth and the same epicentre at nearby Kamena Vourla.
No material damage or injuries have been reported so far.
Although the epicenter was some 120 km north of Athens, the earthquake was felt in several suburbs of the Greek capital.
PS the first – weaker- earthquake shook my chair, the table, the PC and the cat who continued undisturbed her afternoon nap on my office desk. We did not feel at all the second tremor although stronger than the first. Most probably because we were talking about the first earthquake.
