Members of public and private sector unions gathered in downtown Athens on Wednesday morning to protest the austerity policies of Greek government. Unions have called for a nationwide general strike on November 6th ahead a new tsunami of wages and pensions cuts and lay-offs in the public administration.
The protest march started in Athens under a heavy rain.
The communists of PAME were the first to march in front of the Greek Parliament.

However due to protest unfriendly weather conditions, public sector union ADEDY and private sector union GSEE decided to cancel their march to the Parliament.
Greek media report that the protesters were no more than 10,000 people.
